As a convenience to all new patients, we have created a pre-registration department to ensure all clinical and financial information is accurate. The patient registration staff will confirm that new patients are clinically viable to see a Neurosurgeon. This process entails requesting all medical records from your family doctor or any physician whom you have seen in reference to a neurosurgical diagnosis.
In most cases, a referral is needed from your family physician after diagnostic testing has been completed. Diagnostic testing will confirm if surgical intervention is needed. In some cases, your family doctor will refer you to a neurosurgeon for a second opinion to confirm the diagnosis and treatment. If surgery is indicated, our doctor will send your office visit notes and a letter of recommendation to your family doctor.
It is very important that all clinical information is communicated to the pre-registration staff. Without receiving the proper medical records and diagnostic testing, your appointment will be rescheduled or could be cancelled.
The pre-registration staff will also determine your financial responsibility. Most patients have a HMO/PPO plan that requires a referral authorization from your family doctor. This authorization is required before you see a specialist or your insurance will deny payment. Without proper referral, the patient will be responsible for all charges. Please inform the pre-registration staff of your insurance requirements to seek treatment from a specialist.
We will verify all benefits prior to your office visit. We will make financial arrangements for your appointment if necessary. Benefits quoted by your insurance company are not guarantee of payment. Your confirmed benefits will be determined when your claim is processed.
For all appointments, with the exception of emergency work-ins, you will receive a phone call from pre-registration. You will also receive paperwork in the mail. It is very important that the paperwork be filled out completely prior to your appointment. If time allows, please mail the forms back to our office before your appointment.
