If your neurosurgeon recommends surgery our staff will request the necessary insurance company approvals. Generally, approval for surgery can be obtained in 3-5 working days depending on your insurance. If the neurosurgeon recommends a clinical procedure other than surgery or diagnostic testing you may be referred back to your referring physician for treatment.
Our surgery schedulers will schedule your surgery and give you instructions regarding the hospital pre-admit process and your insurance requirements. Surgical procedures are scheduled prior to receiving insurance approval so the patient can make personal arrangements. The doctor’s surgery schedule usually remains booked for several weeks in advance. Your surgery may need to be re-scheduled if approval from the insurance company is not received within two days prior to your surgery.
